Dealing with the Swallow Reflex During Meditation
It’s completely natural for some individuals to experience a swallow reflex while listening to Gates or during meditation. Here are some tips on how to manage it:
Acceptance: Fully accept the swallow reflex. Resistance can lead to discomfort, whereas acceptance can contribute to deeper relaxation.
Positive Suggestion: Give yourself the suggestion: "With every swallow, I relax even more and go deeper into relaxation or hypnosis."
Sign of Relaxation: Recognize that swallowing is a good sign. It indicates that you are in a state of deep relaxation or hypnosis.
The Urge to Move During Hypnosis
If you feel the urge to move while listening to the Gate program or during other hypnoses, it's important to handle it correctly:
Comfortable Position: Choose a comfortable position before beginning that you believe you can maintain for a long duration.
Embracing Impulses: If you still feel the urge to move, do not suppress it. It's better to yield to your natural inclination than to fight it.
Changing Position: You are allowed to change your position during meditation or hypnosis. A brief adjustment or slight movement is okay and will not significantly disrupt your practice.
Refocusing: Redirect your focus away from the urge to move. Concentrate on your third eye or another meditative anchor point.
Over time, you will notice that with more practice in hypnotic states, the urge to move will diminish.
Further Support:
It’s beneficial to further engage with hypnosis, whether through a course or reading specialist literature. The more you learn about hypnosis and the more experience you gain, the more suggestible you will become, and the easier it will be for you to enter deep relaxation.
